Resilience Through Recovery – Southern Gulf Beef Industry

The Resilience Through Recovery – Southern Gulf Beef Industry project will deliver a program of activities that will improve the capacity of regional producers to recover from the impact of the February 2019 floods and to build resilience as a foundation for preparedness for future natural disasters. This project will focus on the land and livestock management aspects of recovery.  Through a program of field days and workshops, presented by nationally recognised experts, the project will provide producers with knowledge and resources that will lead to:

  • More resilient grazing lands through improved management and stocking strategies that reduce flood and drought impacts,
  • More resilient livestock through improved stocking strategies and infrastructure design and placement to reduce flood and drought impacts,
  • More resilient grazing businesses through improved disaster risk management focusing on flood mitigation and preparedness,
  • More resilient communities through improved adaptive capacity to plan, prepare, respond and recover, especially in relation to flood risks,
  • Share learnings about their experience and ideas about disaster management,
  • Access up-to-date information on disaster risks and mitigation options,
  • Understand and adopt property scale management options that build resilience to natural disasters.
