Our Work Strategic Partnerships Local Government
Pests have a significant impact on the economy, environment, human health and social amenity. Under the Biosecurity Act 2014, Local Governments have a responsibility to manage biosecurity matter (Invasive biosecurity matter) within their local government area.
Southern Gulf NRM works closely with North West Queensland local government representatives to deliver pest management activities including on ground projects and public awareness and education programs. In recent years we have taken on the lead coordination role for the Gulf Catchments Pest Task Force and the establishment of a Regional Technical Advisory Group, which will provide and increase the regionals strategic direction.
Southern Gulf NRM is a not-for-profit community-based organisation working through partnerships to implement strategic planning and investment activities that care for our region’s natural and cultural assets.
