Community Group Development Facilitator for North West Queensland

Drought and flood responses over many years have zapped the motivation of many community groups. Southern Gulf NRM will proactively engage with community groups to build or rebuild their capacity. This project will help groups focus on improving volunteer management and recruitment, communications including social media and innovative means of communicating with members, governance, financial management etc. to increase local community group resilience and motivation.

The Community Facilitator’s role is to manufacture motivation within local people, group leadership, and membership. The role will also help in connecting those to drought services, to ensure community groups are well coordinated to drought services across the region and help connect community groups to each other. Additionally, it will assist in providing peer support and networking to improve resilience in communities across the region.

This program is made possible thanks to the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund for the Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative.
