In response to the enormous economic impact created by the COVID 19 pandemic, Southern Gulf NRM has joined a coalition of 70 organisations nationally that have called on the Prime Minister to establish a $4 Billion program that would create jobs for up to 24,000 workers at its peak to undertake practical conservation activities.
There is an urgent need for conservation and land management works in the Southern Gulf region, including building drought and disaster resilience in the regional beef industry; supporting Indigenous employment in working on country projects; making further gains in tackling weeds and feral pests; and improving mapping, monitoring and information systems for sustainable land management. We’d welcome your ideas as well to be sure we secure a share of any available funding for our regional community.
Southern Gulf NRM is seeking expressions of interest from Landholders to become part of a project to improve NRM over 100,000 hectares across the Southern Gulf region, through a structured program of property management planning and related incentive payments.
One element of the support package is the availability of a rebate for professional advisory services. This is administered by QRIDA http://www.qrida.qld.gov.au/current-programs/CFARPRebates are available only for advice provided by registered ‘approved advisors’ who are assessed to have the knowledge and qualifications to provide high quality advice. The rebate program runs until June 2020.
Southern Gulf staff have registered as approved advisors under the program. If you would like advice about agribusiness or environmental aspects of carbon farming please contact Kayler Plant on 4743 1888 to discuss your needs.
The E-Beef Online Series involves four sessions over four weeks in June (2020), providing Landholders, Extension Staff & Industry Stakeholders with key insights on new and emerging technologies relevant to the Grazing Industry. Each session will include a Q&A with presenters.
