Natural Resource Management (NRM)

Natural Resources include air, soil, minerals, water, the landscape, and the plants and animals that live in it. Natural Resource Management (NRM) describes how people use and look after natural resources.

Regional Natural Resource Management Plan

This plan includes:

  • The natural, cultural, social and economic characteristics of the region;
  • Existing programs, activities, resources, and possibilities;
  • Priority interests, issues and needs;
  • Setting goals and achievable NRM targets, and their likely outcomes;
  • Actions needed to protect and manage our natural resources, including partnerships, programs and activities;
  • Links with other regional strategies and policies (e.g. Rural Leasehold Land Strategy and the Gulf Catchments Water Resource Plan);
  • Sustainable industry via the Department of State Development;
  • Why and how the plan was developed; and
  • How it will be monitored and evaluated.

In addition, an Investment Strategy (or funding options proposal) is being prepared so that suggested projects can begin.
