Local Government Sector – Membership Sector Criteria

Local Government Sector Membership is open to all Local Government Associations in the Southern Gulf region.

Local Government Associations in the region include:

                                            Mount Isa City Council
                                            Cloncurry Shire Council
                                            Burke Shire Council
                                            Flinders Shire Council
                                            McKinlay Shire Council
                                            Carpentaria Shire Council
                                            Richmond Shire Council
                                            Doomadgee Community Council
                                            Mornington Shire Council

Conservation Sector – Membership Sector Criteria
 

Membership is open to individuals and organisations with an active interest in the protection and preservation of the natural environment of the Southern Gulf Catchments region. Organisations must have as their principal objective the conservation of the natural environment.

Tourism & Other Industries Sector – Membership Sector Criteria

Any registered business, or group that represents business, that operates within the Southern Gulf region with the intention of making a profit. Excluding those businesses that are predominately Pastoral or Mining.

Pastoral Sector – Membership Sector Criteria

The Pastoral  Sector are representatives of the livestock industry in the Southern Gulf region.
  1. Must be nominated by lease holders and or managers in the livestock industry in the Southern Gulf region.
                      
  2. Must have practical commercial experience in the livestock industry and or land management.         
                   
  3. Must have practical management experience in the livestock industry.

Mining Sector – Membership Sector Criteria

A member is a state or territory authorised commercial mining/mineral processing operation located within the Southern Gulf region. This member must have been approved by the board and be financial. The member will nominate a representative.

Indigenous Sector – Membership Sector Criteria

The Indigenous Sector are representatives of Traditional Owners in the Southern Gulf region. Because of the large land areas in the region, there can be two Directors with only one vote.

 Sector Criteria: 

  1. Must be nominated by members of a recognised Traditional Group in the Southern Gulf region to represent that Traditional Group.
     
  2. Must have connection to the Land in the Southern Gulf region.
                                                                        
  3. Must have the ability to build on and further relationships in the broader community.

Community Sector – Membership Sector Criteria

Definition
: A Community Group whose members are largely residents of the Southern Gulf region. Their representative must be a member of that group.

Criteria: Must be a group with an interest in the management of natural resources in the Southern Gulf region.
